A.D. “Dan” Cowart, 88, of Wildwood, passed away on April 7, 2019, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00am, with a visitation beginning at 10:00am, Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Honey Island Assembly of God Church in Honey Island. Officiating will be Reverend Earl Crawford. Burial will follow at Village Mills Cemetery in Village Mills.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on March 12, 1931, he was the son of B.B. “Muscles” and Dorothy Cowart. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Dan was a member of the IBEW Local 390 in Beaumont as a lineman for 50 years. In his younger years he built houses. He was a member of Honey Island Assembly of God Church. Dan loved playing golf, fishing and woodworking.
He is preceded in death by his parents, B.B. “Muscles” and Dorothy Cowart; his beloved wife, Joanne Ford Cowart; and brother, Gerry Cowart.
He is survived by his son, Ronny Cowart and wife, Peggy of Temple; daughters, Charlotte Flowers and husband, Clarence of Honey Island, and Dianne Rose and husband, Steve of Warren; grandchildren, Adam Cowart, William Cowart, Amy Jones, Emily Pope, Jennifer Ward, Scuddy Paul Loupe, IV, Tiffany Thompson, and Danny Rose; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy “Cuz” Cowart of Nederland; sister, Karen Eller and husband, Ronnie of Beaumont; and sister-in-law, Peggy Cowart of Nederland.
Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Cowart, William Cowart, Andy Thompson, Danny Rose, Chris Ward, and Scuddy Paul Loupe, IV.
Services will be held under the direction of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
