A. E. "Buddy" Pickett

Avery Pickett, 73, of Orange died on November 11, 2008, in Minnesota. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2008, at the Claybar Funeral Home at 1408 W. Park in Orange. Burial will follow at the Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis Community. Visitation will be from 5until 9 p.m. on Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home.

Mr. Pickett was born on August 10, 1935, to Martin C. Pickett and Julia Dailey Pickett. He was a retired operator and worked out of the Electricians Local 390. He also was a veteran serving in the US Marines.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Pickett and is survived by his children: Barbara Marshall and her husband Rick of Orange,: Mike Pickett and his wife Carolyn of Hemphill; Wanda Daigle and her husband Michael of Orange; Ronnie Pickett of Sao Luis, Brazil; Avery "Bud" Pickett Jr. and his wife Joyce of Hinckley, MN as well as eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He also leaves three sisters: Lola Bingham of Orange, Bonnie June Duncan and Dora Pickett, both of Napoleanville, LA.
