A memorial service for Alan Morris Bills, 75, of Beaumont will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Nancy DeForest, officiating. Cremation services were provided by Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory.

Alan was born January 11, 1941 in Mansfield, Knottinghamshire, England and died February 12, 2016 in Beaumont. A former resident of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Alan was a retired process engineer with Mead/Westvaco.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, William Cyril and Grace Bills; brother, Peter Bills; sister, Carol Larry Blatchford; and grandson Renato Alan Melo.

He is survived by his daughters, Julie Ann McAlister, Karen Lynn Zamora; son, Michael William Bills; grandchildren; Scott McAlister, Ryan McAlister; three great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Mark Douglas, Anne and Robert Touchette; brother-in-law, Larry Blatchford and Renato’s wife, Elizabeth.

We were friends with Alan through the Palm Society from many years ago. He trucked up a large Serenoa from Florida to Rock Hill, SC when we lived there, and then helped us move to Mt. Pleasant in '99. We always enjoyed seeing him at various palm events and his house in Mt. Pleasant. We just spoke to him a few weeks ago after a long interval, and he sounded so happy with his life, looking forward to his next adventure, not realizing what an adventure was in store for him.
