August Joe Alligator Joe Brandon, Sr.

August Joe "Alligator Joe" Brandon, Sr., 79, of Orangefield, Texas went to the Lord Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Harbor Hospital in Beaumont.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Delton Rice of Jasper, and Joe Brandon, Jr. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

A Rosary service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Deacon Chris Penning of St. Henry Catholic Church of Bridge City. Visitation will follow from 5:00-7:00 p.m..

Born in Barataria, Louisiana on April 30, 1931, August was the son of Ophelia Verdin and August Frank Brandon. He served in the United States Army and traveled the world for his job with Mobil Oil until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandchildren, Kristy Brandon and Brent Brandon.

August is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Brandon of Orangefield; sons, Charles Brandon and wife Cindy of Orangefield, Joe Brandon, Jr. and wife Kathy of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Dorma Brandon-Brones and husband Mickey of Sam Rayburn, Susan LeDoux and husband David of Orangefield; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his brother, Norris Brandon and wife Pat of Bridge City; sister, Mabel Quinn and husband Ed of Leesville, LA; and godchildren, Lou Brandon and Jessica LeDoux.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Christopher "Mickey" Brones, Jim Brackin, Jason LeDoux, Bud Brandon, Bob Brandon, and Paul Brandon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Will Moore of Orange, Pat Rudolph of MS, Gilbert Baynard of LA, Charly Brandon of Orange, Jeremy Robb of Indiana, and Bryan Droddy of Orange.

The family would like to wish a special thank you to Dr Chris Penning, the staff of Golden Triangle Family Care Center Bridge City, Dr. Ernest Hymel, Dr. Kong and medical staff, and Harbor Hospice and staff.
