Barbara Chance Mims, 84, of Beaumont, passed away on March 26, 2019, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

A memorial service will be 2:00pm, with a visitation at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins in Beaumont. Officiating will be Chaplain David Cross.

A gathering will be held at 3:30pm, Saturday following the service at The Villas of Sunnyside, 1425 Washington Villa Parkway, Beaumont, Texas 77707.

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, on January 5, 1935, she is the daughter of William Edwards and Helen (Boyd) Edwards. She worked for Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas for 18 years. She loved being around people, especially her family, and she loved to travel. Barbara was a dedicated volunteer with the Oasis Respite Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Edwards; and 13 brothers and sisters.

Barbara is survived by her children, Kevin Chance and wife, Patricia of Beaumont, Tricia Saunders and husband. James of Glendale, Arizona, and Tina Newcomb of Beaumont; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty McLin.
