Bernice Harris

Funeral services for Bernice Harris, 84, of Beaumont will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Bob Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive guests from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.

Bernice was born March 30, 1923 in Houston, Texas to Clifford Earl and Bessie Mae Turner Roades and passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. She retired as graduation advisor for Lamar University with more than twenty years of service. Mrs. Harris had many hobbies and special interests including; traveling, sewing, playing bridge and spending quality time with her family. She also loved and took great pride in singing in the church choir.

Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Robinson, she is survived by her husband, Winston B. Harris of Beaumont; son, Winston E. Harris and wife, Jill of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughter, Barbara Kindermann and husband, Dieter of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Steve Harris and wife Charlotte of Raleigh, North Carolina; son, Richard Harris and wife, Cindy of Houston, Texas; son, Lynn Harris and wife, Marcia of Lumberton, Texas; grandchildren, Cameron Harris, Parker Harris, Trevor Harris, Amy Crawford, Chad Clark, Christi Luskin, Charlie Kindermann, Conner Harris, Stephanie Harris, Blake Harris and Todd Harris; great-grandchildren, Taylor Crawford, Jordan Crawford and Jackson Luskin. She is also survived by her half sister, Christine Johnson and husband J.C. of Pt. Neches, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s name to the choir of Trinity United Methodist Church 3430 Harrison, Beaumont, Texas 77706 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 440 N 18th St Ste 7, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
