Betty Lou Barkley, 67, of Beaumont passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Beaumont, Texas.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Betty was born to William Elton and Lula Faul Barkley on October 29, 1949 in Beaumont. She was a lifelong resident of Beaumont, and a graduate of South Park High School.

She received Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from Lamar University. Betty taught for 38 years in BISD at Blanchette and Price Elementary schools. Betty loved to travel, and was devoted to her pet Yorkies - Gypsy, Rosie, and Lulu.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Bobbie Carl Barkley and William Barkley. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many friends.
