Betty June Lounsberry

1927 ∼ 2014

Betty June Lounsberry, 87, of Beaumont, passed away December 12, 2014 at Harbor Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home Beaumont with a gathering of family and friends from noon until service time. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lounsberry was a longtime teacher. She began her career in DeQuincy, LA and then moved to southeast Texas to the Vidor District. Most of her years teaching were in the South Park School District at Bingman Elementary and Caldwood Elementary. After 34 years of teaching she retired.

She was also a longtime member of South Park Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lounsberry was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lounsberry and her brother, E. Glynn Fluitt. She is survived by her son, Robert E Lounsberry; brothers Fred B. Fluitt, Jr of De Quincy, LA and Jack L. Fluitt of DeSoto, TX; sister Ann Porter of Sulphur, LA and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Lounsberry was my first grade teacher in 1965 @ Caldwood Elementary. I will never forget her math teaching skills. She taught us how to add and subtract using clothes pins on wooden hands. I will always remember her! Margaret Robichau
