Betty Jane Verrett

Betty Jane Verrett, 82, of Buna passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City with Reverend George Cruse officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, with a Rosary recited 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Bridge City.

Born in Orange on November 18, 1929, Betty was the daughter of Alton and Louise Sardatal Cruse. Betty retired from L.I.S.D. after 15 years. She also ironed for people for many years in the surrounding area. Betty loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Verrett; granddaughter, Jessica Beaumont; brothers, Alton "Smoky" Cruse and George Cruse, Sr.; and three sisters, Mona McMahan, Nell Slaughter and Ruth McDaniels. Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna Beaumont and husband, Steve of Lumberton; and son, Charles Verrett, Sr. and wife, Lisa of Buna.

Betty is also survived by her grandchildren, Steven Beaumont, April Victoria, Charlie Verrett, Jr. and Radi Verrett; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Jefferson of Beaumont; three brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Steven Beaumont, Radi Verrett, Charlie Verrett, Jr., Johnny "Bosco" Slaughter, Ronnie LeDoux and Johnny Verrett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Eaves, Jacob Verrett and Ronnie Slaughter.
