Bill McFarlane, 79, of Orange, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. A private memorial service will be held Tuesday at the 5th Street location of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Bill was born in Orange on May 28, 1929, to Charles Harold and Ethel Emma Smith McFarlane. He was a long time resident of New York and was a retired travel agent for British Airways.

He was a member of Britannia Lodge No.1166 AF&AM, Grand Lodge of the State of New York and served as master of the lodge in 1971.

Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny McFarlane and Charles Harold McFarlane, Jr., Bill is survived by his nephews and nieces, Don and Terry McFarlane, Johnny and Donna McFarlane, Jr., Mark McFarlane, Marsha and Jim Waldon and Mike and Kathy McFarlane.

My father and I were evacuated from hurricane Ike to a nursing home in Gilmer, TX along with "Mr. Bill" as I called him. He was such a nice man who had a warm personality and loved to laugh. It saddens me that he has passed & I miss him already.##imported-begin##Mike Long##imported-end##
