Cameron Jerry McCraw Jr.

1956 ∼ 2021

Cameron Jerry McCraw Jr., 65, passed away on February 15, 2021 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Jerry came into this world the day after his mom’s 36th birthday on February 1, 1956. Most of the family called him by his name, Jerry. He was born to Cameron J. McCraw, Sr. and Maudine Hamill McCraw in Beaumont, Texas. At the time, he had five older siblings between both his parents. Seventeen months later in June of 1957, his sister Darlene was born which completed the family unit/

Jerry grew up in the outskirts of Beaumont and attended Voth-Rosedale Elementary School, Austin Jr. High, and then French High School. After high school, he went to work for his father, who owned and operated a concrete construction company. He spent many years working and helping to construct foundations for homes, patios, sidewalks, and sometimes commercial slabs. As a young man, he married Beverly and they had a son Dustin McCraw. After they divorced, he was single for a while and then met Cathy Mooney, whom he married in June of 2000. They had a son, Cameron and made their home in Vidor, Texas. He continued working in construction, mostly in concrete work, but was skilled in many crafts.

As a child, Jerry professed the Lord as his Savior and spent several years involved in memorizing Scripture and reciting it to sponsors in order to earn his way to Bible Camp. Jerry was a happy go lucky person with a sense of humor and loved the outdoors. As a young person, he spent many hours boating and skiing on the Neches River with his sister Darlene and friend. His laugh was infectious and he always enjoyed life with his family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Cameron McCraw, Sr., mother, Maudine Dowdy, brother Scott McCraw and sister Darlene Hogan. He is survived by his wife, Cathy McCraw of Vidor, sons Cameron McCraw of Vidor, Dustin McCraw and wife Brenna of Lumberton; step daughters, Victoria Sartor and husband John of Vidor, Jamie Griffin and husband Travis of Honey Island; step son, Allen Schroeder of Vidor; granddaughter Brynlee McCraw of Lumberton; sisters Connie Lattoz of Baytown, Sherry Broussard and husband Jim of Beaumont, Randa Carrington of Liberty; brother Philip Galusha and wife Linda of Jacksonville, Florida, and many nephews, nieces and grandchildren as well as many friends.

Little brother, oh how I will miss you, your silly laugh, your late calls just to talk and to say you love me. I love you too; life won't be the same without you in it. Give our mom a big hug and save a place for me at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb. You will be missed by so many, including your little dog, Rufus who now has a very happy home as we promised, your two sons, and your wife along with numerous friends and relatives. RIP Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Your Sis, Connie Lattoz
