Carl David Owens, 56, of Orange, died in Port Arthur on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend John Bickham, pastor of First Baptist Church of Orange. Cremation will follow at Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory near Bridge City.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Sunday.
Born in Port Arthur on April 26, 1955, David was the son of Paul Roderick Owens, Sr. and Janette LeBlanc Owens. He worked in several different fields, the last being for the Post Office encoding center. He was a free spirit who enjoyed life and he especially enjoyed communing with nature. David was a loving son, brother, and good friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Owens, Sr.; and brother, Roddy Owens. David is survived by his mother, Janette Owens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Paula and Richard Sistrunk, Linda and Claud Gossett; three nieces and two nephews; six great nieces and two great nephews; his beloved dog Ruby; and many relatives and close friends that were like family.
