Carol Diane Culp

Carol Diane Culp of Orange, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carol was born August 25, 1948 in Orange, TX to Ida & Odell Jackson. She was an EMT with the Orange County Ambulance Service for many years and while attending nursing school at Lamar University in Orange. She graduated as a Registered Nurse and began working at Pinehurst Nursing & Rehabilitation formerly Jones Nursing Home. She continued her employment with the nursing home and also began working for Southeast Texas Hospice. Carol also taught CNA classes at Lamar University, part-time.

Carol was a hard-working, dedicated woman, but everything came second to her family life. She was a faithful and loving wife and a supportive and caring mother. If you knew Carol, you loved her. She was a woman of integrity and always spoke her mind. She was strong-willed, and yet so hospitable. She spent her entire life taking care of others. She had an incomparable compassionate nature and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City from 3 to 6pm with Funeral Services to begin at 6pm.

Carol is preceded in death by her mother & father, Ida & Odell Jackson.

Carol leaves to cherish her memories: Loving and devoted husband, Terry L. Culp; sons, Arthur "Artie" Thornell Jr. and Eastwood Almazan; daughters, Connie Ytuarte, Heather Cote Wallace "Leo" Morgan; Krista Almazan, and Keli Hodge Larry Hodge; grandchildren, Brittney Elms & Colbin Elms, Serenity Ytuarte, Dylan Thornell, Alora Myers, Joel Almazan and "adopted" granddaughter, Shay Elms. She also leaves sisters: Patty Phillip Murphy, Judy Ronnie Robison, Sandy Jimmy Bergeron, Susan "Susie" Courtney, and Karen Marcantel; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family of Carol Culp would like to express extreme thanks and gratitude to the people of Southeast Texas Hospice, who have gone above and beyond to insure that Carol was given the very best of care. Carol loved all of you like a second family. We cannot thank all of you enough for everything you've done and continue to do. You have all been true angels in our time of darkness.

We loved Carol very much. Not only was Carol a great nurse, she was a kind individual that shared so much of herself with others. It was a joy to know her and to work with her, at Pinehurst Nursing and Rehab.##imported-begin##Lisa LaCaze##imported-end##
