Carolyn A. Hogan

Carolyn A Hogan, 67, died peacefully at her home on December 5, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Her 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated quietly with her husband and daughters early that morning. Funeral services have been set for Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange in the Gillespie Building. Reverend Mike Umbenhaur will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be on Monday, December 8, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home's temporary location at 1408 W Park Ave. in Orange. Mrs. Hogan was born in Baytown, TX, on January 12, 1941, and was a lifelong resident of Orange. Her parents were Don L. and Evelyn Dardeau Garrett of Orange. Carolyn was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange where she worked in the soup kitchen and was very active in community projects. She was the office manager of Creole Steel, Inc.of Sulphur, LA for 22 years and was a member of the Service League of Orange. She was the first Mardi Gras Queen in Orange and was a founding member of the Creole Krewe. She was known for her generosity and love of people. She was a loving wife, mother and a devoted grandmother who will truly be missed by all her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Melvin Hogan; two daughters, Taura DeDiego and Holli Harrison and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Shaina and husband, Bobby Moats, Quaid and Griffin DeDiego, Allie Landry and Sofia Harrison; brother David and Julie Garrett of Austin, sister, Debbie Garrett of Dayton, and brother, Herbie Holton of Houston. Pallbearers will be Darrell Randle, Bobby Smith, David Garrett, Bill Adams, Quaid DeDiego and Dr. Richard Smith. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hogan and family requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Orange Building Fund in memory of Carolyn.
