Carolyn Dawn Johnson

Funeral services for Carolyn Dawn Johnson will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica with Father Jerry McGrath officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Brent Wester, Herman Gerhardt, Tom Simon, Danny Karnicke, Rudy Sotolongo, and Kuyen Li. A wake will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Carolyn was born in Genoa, OH on February 28, 1948 to Thomas and Hazel Cashen and passed away in her Beaumont home, surrounded by her family, on November 18, 2008.

She loved her family, biking, travel, antiques, and bible study. Carol was also an "I Have a Dream" mentor.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dr. Earl Francis Johnson; sons, Dr. Dustin Roden-Johnson and wife, Lizabeth, of Austin, Hunter Thomas Johnson of San Antonio, and David Mark Johnson and wife, Denise, of Sugarland; grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, and Gavin Dane Roden-Johnson; brother Thomas Cashen; sister, Beth Foster; mother-in-law, Grace Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorials may be sent to the Ben Rogers "I Have a Dream" program, 595 Orleans, Ste 418, Beaumont, TX 77701 or the Renovation Fund for St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, TX 77701.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her physicians, Dr. Robert Birdwell, Bonnie and the staff at Texas Oncology, and friend and physician, Dr. Daniel Harmon, to Brenda Honeycutt of Southeast Texas Hospice, and friends and prayer partners beyond enumeration.
