Carrie Soileau Eastham

Carrie Eastham, 98, of Beaumont, passed away at her home January 21, 2010. A native of Louisiana, she lived most of her life in Beaumont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Lynn Eastham; son, Gerald L. Eastham; sisters, Venita Monaghan and Vivian Soileau; and brothers, Douglas, John, and Lafuer Soileau.

Carrie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Eileen Eastham; grandchildren Lynn Eastham and Lyle and Andrea Eastham; great-grandchildren Madelynn, Bella, and Aspen Eastham; brother, Joseph Soileau and his wife, Jody and sisters Amelia Carrier and Ruby Deshotel all of Louisiana. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews including Harold Carrier, John and Ann Monaghan and Clarence and Gladys Carrier.

Carrie was blessed to have several ladies who cared for her and about her including Ann and Fay. She was also cared for by Delma, Michele, Janice and Jada from Coastal Caregivers, which is owned by Barbara Eddington and Ann Hansen.

On Friday, January 22, 2010, Carrie Eastham will lie in state in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Her family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 23, at 2:00 p.m. in Washington, LA at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

There are some good holiday memories of Carrie: I can still see her making her famous giblet gravy for Thanksgiving cigarette poised in hand opposite the hand with her spoon.
