Charlene Mobley

Charlene Mobley, 88, of Vidor was born July 23, 1924 in Oil City, Louisiana and passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at Baptist Hospital. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Turning Point Church in Vidor. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.

Charlene accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the ripe old age of 6 and immediately began preaching locally and eventually across the country. At one of her services, she met a cute 17 yr. old boy named Lance who became her husband. This marriage produced 8 children and lasted 63 years until Lance's death in 2002.

Charlene became a real estate broker and realtor and worked in this profession for 39 years, the latest working for Remax Pro in Vidor until her death. She received numerous awards, served on boards including President of the Beaumont Board of Realtors in 1992.

She was always active in church, volunteered at nursing homes, delivered meals to shut-ins, and even up until her death, helped make and serve sandwiches at a local food shelter. She was also active in giving motivational speeches, the most recent being only three days prior to her hospitalization.

She loved and lived life to the fullest. She skydived on her 80th birthday, parasailed in the Caymans, and snowmobiled and hot air ballooned in Colorado. She loved her God, her family, her country, her work, her friends and her clients. Up until the day the illness left her in an uncommunicative state, she would "Greet this day with joy"

She is survived by 7 children, Joe Mobley and wife, Patty, of Sun City, California, Sandra Cook and husband, Lee, of Crystal Beach, Roger Mobley and wife, Sharie of Jasper, Renee Mobley of Vidor, Lynda Gaye Courtney and husband, Vince Dilley, of Vidor, Tami Robichau of Conroe, and Chuck Mobley and wife, Betty Ann, of Grand Cayman.
