Charles 'Chuck' Smith of Beaumont died April 18, 2012 at home. Chuck was a career Navy man and was employed as an electrician after retirement from the military. An avid fisherman, Chuck closely followed both college and pro basketball and football.
He is survived by his daughters; Rose Sigler of NM, Deborah Barney and Donna Wallace of Texas and their spouses; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Juanise Compton of Beaumont and Linda Whitehead and spouse of AZ, plus numerous friends, including George Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Carmack and Lennie Simmons Smith; his son, Gary Mack Smith and his brother-in-law, Henry Compton.
On the first anniversary of Chuck's death, the family will have a private ceremony at the USS Oriskany per his request.
In lieu of floral offerings, contributions may be made to the USS Oriskany Memorial in Pensacola or a Veteran's organization of your choice.
