Charles W. Cagle, Sr.

Charles W. Cagle, Sr., 87, of Orange, died Monday, October 5, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church in Orange with Reverend David Millner officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in West Orange.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Charles was born on November 15, 1921, in Collins, Mississippi. He was the son of Walter Cagle and May Mason Cagle. Charles served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Boilermakers Local #587. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Orange.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Louise Cagle; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Judy Cagle, Jr. of Orange; son, James H. Cagle of Orange; seven grandchildren, Cara Cagle Naizer of Clyde, Texas, Angela Cagle McGee, James "Jay" Cagle, Savannah Cagle, Mason Cagle all of Orange, Jennifer Cagle Lemon and Jennings Cagle both of Martin, Tennessee; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Ida Warden of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Charles Cagle, Jr., James H. Cagle, James "Jay" Cagle, Cody Gray, John McGee and Kevin McGee.

Charles Cagle was the first person to trust me to ride and care for his horses. I was only a teenager when I asked if I could "exercise his horses and buy them some feed", yet he trusted me to let myself in and borrow his tack to ride with my friend. Charles Cagle is one of those "bigger than life" kind of men. I have been blessed to be his pastor for 7 years, and I will truly miss him.
