Christine E. DeRouen, 91, of Bridge City, TX, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Father Steve Leger. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland.

Visitation will be from 4-8pm, Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00pm.

Born in Fenton, Louisiana, on December 25, 1920, Christine was the daughter of Fred and Eva Augustine Hoppe. Christine's love of her family was her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfred Lee DeRouen; grandson, Jody DeRouen; brother, Carl Hoppe; sister, Lela Clemmons; and daughters-in-law, Marie and Barbara DeRouen.

Christine is survived by her sons, Terry DeRouen of Nederland, TX and Michael DeRouen and his wife Dianne of Bridge City, TX; grandchildren, Kevin DeRouen, Bryan DeRouen, Kim Yearwood; step-grandchildren, Eric Dufrene, Andrea Rueter, and Summer Jenkins; seven great-grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Vivian Driggers of Lake Charles, LA.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Bryan DeRouen, Kevin DeRouen, Keaton Alexander, Glyn Foreman, Alton Terro, Seth Sebastian, and Eric Dufrene. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ashton DeRouen and Austin Dufrene.

The family would like to thank the staff at Odyssey Hospice, especially Christine's special caregiver, Carrie Williams, her nurse, Wade Wright, and her social worker, Brandi Love.

WE DIDN'T KNOW GRANDMOTHER VERY LONG AND WE WERE WITH HER HER ONLY A FEW TIMES. BUT, IN THOSE FEW TIMES WE FOUND HER TO BE A VERY LOVING PERSON, AND WITH A WONDERFUL PERSONALITY.
