Craig Randolph Crosby

1966 ∼ 2015

“Well done good and faithful servant…” – Matthew 25:21

Craig Randolph Crosby, 48, of Spring, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2015, in Nashville, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with liver disease. A devoted husband, dedicated father, loving PopPop, and selfless friend, Craig’s zeal for life was a shining light to his friends and family. He never met a stranger and had a gift of making everyone who knew him feel special. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.

Craig was a lover of classic cars, motorcycles, Texas football, and country music. He dreamed big and worked hard. From his first job at Dairy Queen to his 25 years of dedicated service at Commercial Metals Company to starting Bowtie Entertainment, his own DJ business, Craig poured his energy and attention into his work and the lives of those around him.

He was a 1985 graduate of Vidor High School, an Eagle Scout, lifetime member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, member of All American Muscle Cars, and an avid classic car show participant.

Craig is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Carter Crosby; faithful sons Carson and Travis Crosby; devoted stepdaughter Kristyn LeGalley and her husband Caleb; three grandchildren Rheyce, Adelyn, and Parker LeGalley; sister Ann Crosby Prasnicki and husband Mark; birth mother Clara Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Maggie Crosby.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont with a celebration of his life at 10 am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor.

In memory of Craig, the family asks you to consider giving the gift of life by joining the organ donor registry at www.donatelifetexas.org .

At the visitation tonight, I sat with my father in law, Joe Wingerson. He told me about how he coached a little league baseball team when Craig and Steve were young. He said that he needed a good pitcher for his team and many people told him that he needed to get Craig Crosby for his team. The name of the team was "Angels". He said that now Heaven's baseball team has gained another "Angel".

I only met Craig once at a MADD walk held in the Woodlands a couple years ago. But I can say that he was a special person just by the happiness that he gave my step daughter Jennifer. My heart breaks for the family. May God bring them each comfort and peace. Heaven has surely gained another angel.

I met Craig through Jennifer and the marriage of my son, Caleb, to her daughter, Kristyn just a few short years ago. In the brief time I knew him, Craig made me feel like we were buddies from 'way back when' - he was one of the kindest, most genuine men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and he was truly 'special' as "Poppops" to the grandchildren. Every time I see or will ever see Rheyce with his cars, I will always be reminded of Craig and how immeasurably he will be missed.

Marci W. Mahana July 7, 2015
I have many fond memories of Craig-- especially when Todd Mahana and I were our earlier years of marriage and lived in Vidor (1989-1992) and then moved back to Vidor for another 6 year stint (1998-2004) --Memories such as Craig being Todd's best BEST man at our wedding. I have a picture taken at our reception where we were all in the incredibly long greeting line and Todd is cooing over a little baby and Craig and I are in this intense conversation (almost looks like WE were the newlywed couple and Todd the best man.) Makes me smile every time I look at it because it reminds me of Craig's ability to always make you feel like the only person in the room when you were speaking to him. There was also this unforgettable time when Craig and Todd took Craig's truck and went on a man date to just "look" at 4 wheeler's. Well, after their man date...Craig dropped Todd off at our house and left quickly (which was unlike Craig-he would always visit.). I went outside to see what was up and should have known something shady was going on because he and Todd didn't just go to "look" at 4-wheeler's. Todd actually came HOME with a brand new 4-wheeler and fancy helmet (due to Craig's wonderful, best friend encouragement!) Those two pulled some stunts. smile emoticon (It took years for me to get over that one. LOL.) I also have wonderful memories of going mudding on our 4 wheeler's as couples (getting so dirty and Todd's 4-wheeler ending up in a big hole), taking motorcycle rides in the Hill Country together, making motorcycle runs for impromptu dates to Cracker Barrel, enjoying seeing our kids play together and go to school together (almost the same ages but Craig had 2 boys and we had 2 girls) and also some wonderful memories of us volunteering in our various church callings together. I am so grateful for he and Todd's lifelong friendship that also allowed me to be his friend. Grateful for Craig sincerity, kindness, the way he genuinely cared about you and always made you feel special. He touched everyone he knew. I know there was a wonderful reunion in Heaven with his parents! So grateful they were there to welcome him home. Craig--You will be missed! We love you Jennifer, Carson, Travis, Ann and family. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you today, next week, and in the weeks, months and years to come. --Love, Marci & Todd Mahana; Deneka, Stephen & Adelaine Beck and Taelor & John Worthington

Craig and I graduated high school together. Other than a few class reunions, we didn't stay in touch until Facebook. Last year I sold 2 extra Zac Brown tickets to a concert - and Craig scooped them up in minutes!! It was a joke with our spouses...."Who are we going with?!"..... "We don't know"... So we jokingly started to refer to each other as "BFF". We hadn't seen each other in 29 years. Lol. We shared a lovely dinner, caught up, met his beautiful and beloved wife Jennifer, heard all about the kids, grandkids, jobs, life.... He barely mentioned his illness. That is what struck me about Craig. He had an ethereal peace, loving kindness and Godly presence, in the face of adversity. He smiled his way through trials, and never missed a concert, car show or family event. He lived life. He changed my view of life. It's short, uncertain, and finite. Live each day. Welcome God into your heart. Never give up. Keep fighting and smiling until God calls you home. Rest in peace dear classmate. You touched my heart and replenished my soul with your optimism, integrity and character. You will be dearly remembered. Watch over us as we pray for the comfort of your beloved family and many, many friends. You left an indelible mark. God bless.

I recently reconnected with Craig through social media, it seems he did not change a bit. He was still kind and thoughtful even sending me a note letting me know how great looking my family was. I am honored that I can say Craig was my friend. Every man's hope is to pass knowing his family understands how much he loved them, and that his children have the principles and character to lead successful lives of their own. Craig may rest peacefully knowing this to be true.
Geneva White July 7, 2015
I only met Craig one time at his mother in law's visitation. It's hard to explain the impact he made on me in that one meeting. Myself and our church have prayed for him continually since then. We took a photo together that night and I will always treasure it. It's hard to understand loosing such a young man but God is in control. My prays will now be that God wraps his arms around Jennifer and his family and gives them peace that only he can.

Gary and I met Craig when we all belonged to GWRRA together. We have lots of good memories of times we spent with him. He was truly one of the good guys. I'll always remember that grin. You could never be quite sure if he was up to something or not. All he had to do was grin to make you wonder.....I feel honored to have had him in my life for a few short years. It's a comfort to know there will be another one added to the "welcoming committee" when we get to Heaven. Gary and Glenda Wagner
