Curtis Mitch Menefee

1958 ∼ 2017

Curtis Mitch Menefee was born on October 9, 1958, in Beaumont, Texas and passed away on January 25, 2017, at MD Anderson hospital with his wife and his parents at his side. He was raised in Nederland, Texas and attended and graduated from Nederland Independent School District. He worked at the Goodyear Chemical Plant in Beaumont for almost 40 years. He married Leticia S. Sabedra on July 16, 1982 they celebrated 34 memorable years together. He was blessed with two children a son, Jason Menefee and a daughter, Jordan Menefee.

For relaxation and recreation Mitch enjoyed the simpler things in life which included bird watching he started this completely by accident, he would find himself staring out the kitchen window waiting on Lettie and the kids to get ready each time they were going somewhere. It quickly became one of his favorite past times. Anyone that knew Mitch knows that spending time with his family at the beach soaking up the sun with a cold beer and a fishing pole was one of his favorite ways of making lasting memories. But the place he held dearest to his heart, the one that made him happiest, is his families old homestead lovingly referred to as "The Farm" it's the one place that could wash away any worries or troubling thoughts he may have been having, he loved spending time there making memories and sharing stories about it every chance he got especially with his Goodyear Family. The Farm provided more than just those beautiful memories built around family The Farm was his woodsy refuge it's the only place that gave him inner comfort no matter where he was or what he was going through.

He is survived by his devoted loving wife, Leticia S. Menefee; his son, Jason Menefee; his daughter, Jordan Menefee; 4 beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Kayla, Karlea and Ashlyn Menefee; his devoted father, Curtis Menefee and caring mother, Patricia Menefee; one brother, Mark Menefee; his two nephews, Christopher Menefee and Patrick Menefee and his niece, Kaylee Menefee; along with many other cherished family and friends.

I just heard of Mitch's passing. I knew Mitch from working with him at Goodyear up until 2002 when i transferred to another position, but even then saw him from time to time when I was in the plant. I retired in 2012 but I remember him for always smiling and laughing, When he would tell stories he was so excited and he shared that excitement with all around him. He will be missed and I know his family has lost so much, but his smiling face and his voice will forever be in inspiration to all who knew him.

I remember spending the holidays at Mimi and Papa house, in Center when we were kids. All the trouble we would get in from time to time, running in the chicken house upsetting the chickens. I remember when you were born. I was so fascinated with a baby, you were the first one I really remember being around. I always want to "hold the baby". We lost touch over the years as cousins do, with raising families moving to different towns. You were a good man, and took care of your family and they were the most important things in your life. My prayers go out to you wife, kids, grand kids, and to Aunt Tootsie, and Uncle Curits. You will be greatly missed in this life, but you will always be in our hearts.
