Curtis Jess "Porkie" Parker

Curtis Jess Parker, 57, of Orange, died, Saturday, October 13, 2007, at his son?s residence in Spring, TX, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at First Christian Church in Orangefield. Brother Jim Hardwick will officiate, and Mr. W. A. Taylor will be speaking at the service. Additional graveside service and interment will follow at McKnight Cemetery in Cushing, TX, at 4:30 p.m.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Curtis was born November 11, 1949, in Orange, the son of Houston Leroy Parker and Dollie Belle Landry.

Curtis was a lifelong resident of Orange, he was a 1968 graduate of Orangefield High School and in 1973 graduated from Lamar University School of Engineering.

He enjoyed his work as a professional engineer for Grant Prideco of Beaumont and Houston, but what he loved most was being with his grandchildren. He was a member of First Christian Church Orangefield. He was a loving husband, father, PawPaw and was a good friend to many. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Maureen Webb.

He is survived by his wife Jane Parker of Orange; son Bryan Parker and wife Missy of Spring; grandchildren, Logan Parker and Piper Parker; brother J. C. Foreman and wife Mary of Orangefield and sister, Bernice Mires also of Orangefield.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Lyons, Tom Ryder, Tige Egan, Philip Morgan, John Epperly, Don Walles, Dwayne Bean and Mike Norman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lon Egan, Ned Fowler, Buddy Garison, Wynne Mires, Gary Rawlinson and Glenn Rawlinson.

Curtis requested that memorials be made to: New Iberian Mission Association, P. O. Box 15133, Las Cruces, NM, 88004 or First Christian Church, P. O. Box 337, Orangefield, TX 77639.

It has been many years since I've seen Porkie but I've never stopped chuckling over the fun times we had as kids on my family's visits to Orangefield. My condolences go out to the family he has left behind.##imported-begin##Brenda Webb Nicely##imported-end##
