Jim speaks often of the McNeel family and the childhood they shared in South Park. About a year ago, Dan called him and Jim really enjoyed that phone visit - but didn't get the number of an address - so, although we have not been able to reach back, Dan has recently been in our thoughts. He will remain in our thoughts and memories and a big part of Jim's childhood.

I would like to say that I love my uncle Dan. I remember he would do anything in the world for my family and I. I felt safe around him, because I knew if I was in trouble he would protect me at the drop of a hat. I know uncle Dan really loved all of his family. He would always tell me proud things about them. If he did not stay at your house very long when he came to see you, that did not mean anything bad. That just was uncle Dan. It did not take him long to make his point and to make a lasting impression. I apologize for not seeing him of late, but I know he knew I loved him very much. After my dad died, he would come by and check up on my mom. After my mom died he drove all the way over to our house to check up on me and told me how my he appreciated my mom and dad and quickly left. You see the message was straight to the point and it made a lasting impression on me. We are all unique and made in God's image. I thank God for my uncle Dad and the part he played in my life. I can not imagine the reunion all the Mc Neel's had when uncle Dan arrived. As the old says goes, "last but not least. I am so proud to say that my grandparents and all my uncles and aunts are all Christians. I guess that says the most important thing about my uncle Dan, he was a Christian. Richard and I would like to send our love and heart felt compassion to all of uncle Dad's family. We pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the peace of God to surround all of you. Love, Barbara and Richard Walker

I will never forget my Uncle Dan. He was very unpredictable. My daughter Cynthia and I would be working at the law firm in Longview, and to our surprise would appear my "Uncle Dan" He never called, and came often. He knew he didn't have to call us before coming to see us. He was always welcome. I will never forget when I was a little girl, I spent about a week with them nearly every Summer. We were very poor and had lost my mother (his sister, Leola) and he would buy me anything my heart could desire. One night Uncle Dan, Aunt Peggy, Clydine and myself were riding looking we were looking at the Christmas lights and I started crying. He looked back at me and said "are you homesick" and I said yes and that very night he brought me back to Longview. I love you Uncle Dan and may you rest in peace.
