David Lee Goans

David Lee Goans, Sr., 54, of Beaumont passed away, Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Christus Hospital St Elizabeth. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the chapel of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.

He was born on April 27, 1954 in Texarkana to Carl Lee Goans and Ona Faye McMillen McClary. David attended Beaumont High School and grew up in the Aluminum business with his step dad, Bob McClary. Most recently, he owned his own company, All-Weather Aluminum. He also worked in the Awning business for 40 years and was a LT. Gov. in the Optimist Club. David loved to scuba dive, fish, cook and most of all, spend time with family and friends.

David is survived by his mother and step-father, Ona Faye and Bob McClary; father and step-mother, Carl Lee and Nettie Goans; sons, David Lee Goans, Jr. and Chad Goans and grandson, Alex Goans. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Debra Ainsworth, Burke, Calvin, Scott and Andrew McClary, Carl Goans III, Judy Goans and Jennifer Goans and many other loving family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys Haven, 3655 Major Dr, Beaumont, TX 77713.

As we approach the 4 year anniversary of David's passing I am reminded of what a great person and brother he was and always will be. What a fun and loving cousin. There was always an adventure to be had with David: chasing down the 19" long trout, shooting the frog which turned out to be a snake, eating the armadillo, and going flying with me when he had a broken foot.
