David Lee Shimek

Funeral services for David Shimek, 60, of Beaumont will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

David was born January 27, 1952 in Beaumont Texas to Charles and Katherine Shimek and passed away September 30, 2012 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A graduate of French High School and Lamar University, David worked for over 35 years as a civil engineer for Exxon-Mobil. During his career with Exxon-Mobil, David worked in Malaysia, Norway, Holland and Africa and recently served as the site engineer for the Golden Pass LNG Project in Sabine Pass.

David is survived by his mother, Katherine Shimek of Beaumont; brothers, Larry Shimek of Beaumont, Roy Shimek, Jr. of Convington, LA; and sister: Linda Shimek of Beaumont;

David was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Shimek and daughter, Katie; and his father, Charles Roy Shimek, Sr.

I only knew Mr. Shimek briefly, as I met him in mid-August when he had a CT scan. He was a very likeable man.
