In the photo album, I can see pictures of family and friends, captured moments of silly faces and "Kodak moments", of far away places and near ones. Ahh... dearest uncle David brought many wonderful adventures to my life and my siblings. The first time I flew in a plane was on a trip my uncle took me on. My first time in a commercial airplane ride was also with my uncle. We went to an event where the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir sung, in New York. Heh, we even got lost in Central Park. Many a time we went dewberry picking. We picked so much that our fingers were stained, but the end result was a tasty cobbler to eat with scoops of Bluebell icecream. There were trips to the beach and Galveston, late night get-togethers with the family, fishing and crabbing (we caught a shark once!), Outtings at the movies and wonderful stories of camp adventures. Texas Lions Camp and Nameless Valley Ranch. I'm going to miss hearing a soft guitar playing on Sabbath afternoons, moments of silly quirkiness and word rhymes, dry humor and laughing so hard one's faces hurts and ya can't breathe. I shall always cherish these fond memories of my dear uncle. He really impacted my life and influenced many things to cause me to be the person I am today. I'm so blessed to have known him. A writer, musician, motorcycle rider, friend, singer, quilter, mechanic, gardener, mentor, comedian, E.R. nurse, world traveler, prayer warrior, missionary at heart... oh there's much I could describe of my uncle Dave. The last huge family reunion I attended was many years ago and I remember him leading out in song ,many tunes. Strumming his acoustic guitar, he sang a particular tune, "farther along we'll know all about it..farther along we'll understand why..". Someday, on that blessed morn we shall meet again uncle Dave. When Jesus comes back ... "I'll see you in the mornin'".-(Eldest Niece) Judith Alva.
