Dee Rodgers

Dee Rodgers, 69, of Orange, Texas died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at a Galveston hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m., Monday at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Born in Joaquin, Texas on June 6, 1941, Dee was the son of Mary Ellen Cooper Rodgers Solly and Jake Spivey Rodgers. He was the owner and operator of The Eye Place Optical.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herbert Rodgers; and step-father, Bill Solly.

Dee is survived by his daughter, Brenda Rodgers and her husband, Ron Chesser of Lubbock; sons, Keith Rodgers and his wife, Sarah of Union, KY; and Brian H. Rodgers of Vidor; grandchildren, Amanda Gagneux of Beaumont, Mary Gagneux of Canyon, Makani Rodgers of Austin, Patrick Rodgers of Austin, and Michael Nelson of Union, KY.

He is also survived by his sisters, Nettie Lee Polk and her husband, Simmie of Beaumont, Jacquie Hebert and her husband, Billy, Sylvia Bickham and her husband, Norman, and Judy Rodgers, all of Orange; and brother, Doug Rodgers and his wife, Esther of Leesville, LA.

Devone was a classmate for many years in Tenaha. You never saw him or had the occasion to work with him that he was not smiling. My memory of Devone in that time frame is that smile. Even later as I had the occasion to meet with him at class reunions##imported-begin##Bobby Hataway##imported-end##
