Diane Goetschius

1960 ∼ 2020

Diane Goetschius, 60, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2020, in Beaumont.

Born in Beaumont on February 23, 1960 to Bobby Guy Ener and Margaret (Leggett) Ener, Diane graduated from Forest Park High School and then later from Lamar University. Diane had a passion for teaching kindergarten and loved reading and inspiring a love of reading in others. Through her 26 years in education, she taught countless children to read, to write, and to be kind to others. Always putting her family first, Diane put her teaching career on hold for a decade to be a full-time mom to her four daughters. During that time, she was the quintessential classroom volunteer, dance mom, band mom, youth group mom; she was always available to support her daughters in whatever their interests were at the time. She is remembered for teaching in her church at AWANA and vacation bible school, for her antics and hard work on youth mission trips with her girls, and for being that mom that all the kids could and wanted to talk to. Later in life, her grandchildren became her passion. She never showed up for a visit without a new book for them, and one of her greatest pleasures was reading to them. Diane met Jack, her high school sweetheart and one true love at the age of 15, and she loved him fiercely and completely, always doing what she could to keep him in line. Diane became a Christian as a young child and introduced Jack to The Lord when they were teenagers. Married in 1980, they endured the ups and downs of 40 years of marriage, and Jack was by her side holding her hand when she first looked into the eyes of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Guy Ener and her brother, Robert Ener.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jack C. Goetschius; mother, Margaret Ener of Conroe; children, Katrina Johnson and her husband M.J. Johnson of Van Alstyne, Keila Goetschius and her fiancé J.W. Buller of Vidor, Karley Goetschius and her husband Derek Jackson of Beaumont, and Kalley McConathy and her husband Jared McConathy of Melissa; grandchildren, Gemma, Rylan, and Micah Johnson, Dylan Buller, Brody Campise, Addi, Ella, and Clara Jackson, Gabriel McConathy; siblings, Sherri Wright and her husband Bruce of Liberty, Stephen Ener and his wife Julia of Cypress, and Dawn Graff and her husband Billy of Conroe; sister-in-law, Mary Ener of Beaumont; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are M.J. Johnson, J.W. Buller, Derek Jackson, Jared McConathy, Joshua Graff, and Jacob Graff.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 3:00 p.m., at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church in Beaumont. I worked with Diane for several years at Fletcher Elementary. What a wonderful person and teacher! The dedication she had to her students was inspiring and the love she held for her family is a testament to all of us of what a wonderful Christian woman Diane is. My prayers go to the family of this dear friend and colleague.

I knew Diane when we lived in Texas for 2 years from church. She came to our Bible study at her sister Dawn's house, then at my house. We went to a Christmas play with them also. Such a special person she was as a teacher and grandma! Now with Jesus!

Ms.Goetschius was the best kindergarten teacher I could have ever asked for. She was always such a kind and thoughtful spirit, her classroom was always a space that I could both learn and have fun in. Being in college now, I whole-heartedly believed that Ms.Goetschius gave me the confidence to strive in school and beyond. I am so blessed to have been one of her students. May she rest in peace.

Diane was one of the first people I met when we moved to Beaumont almost 25years ago. We were living in a hotel while we searched for a house. Katrina invited my oldest Nicole to AWANA one night and then to church. Diane got several ladies from church to come over and help get our house ready to move into. She was always doing for others. Her family became our family. I remember for years getting up and meeting her at her house at 5 am on Black Friday with a stack full of Christmas ads and we would usually start in line at JC Penney's. They always handed out little ceramic vintage ornaments to the first hundred in line. She would always sweet-talk the man at the door out of a few more so that each of her girls would get one. We would take turns holding our place in line while the other of us would fly to another store to get their sale merchandise. We would balance huge bags of stuff and juggle a hot beverage and people watch and make new friends in line. We laughed a lot. She was certainly a gem and dear friend. She was so proud of her family. She did a great job of raising them and they did her proud in return. She is gone but will never be forgotten. We'll see you soon! Kris, Nicole, Kimmi

I had the privilege of teaching with Mrs. Goetschius. She was my “go-to” teacher to include, in her classroom, some of my students with special needs. She ALWAYS helped the children feel welcomed and ensured they were successful, even though she had 20 + other students in her room. She was a rare gem. My thoughts and prayers for her family.

Diane and I taught at Amelia together. She was always an encourager to her students and the entire staff of the school. Within moments of meeting Diane, you knew she loved her family and students, fiercely, but above all loved Jesus more. She will truly be missed by many, but we have the assurance of seeing her when we pass into eternity. Prayers for God’s unfailing comfort and love to engulf those who were fortunate to call her daughter, sister, wife, Mom, Grandmother, cousin, aunt, and friend.

Mrs. Diane was one of thousands of teachers who shopped at Southeast Texas Food Bank School Tools. She would come six times a year to get school and office supplies for her students. She would always come in with a huge infectious smile and had that look of compassion in her eyes. I knew when she would come in my day would be made better. Mrs. Diane loved her students and took extra time and care when selecting items. She never left without giving me a huge hug and saying, "Thank You." Heaven has gained an Angel no doubt. Her imprint and impact was made here on this earth. Her ambition to serve well rubbed off on her family. One of her daughters volunteers in School Tools because of her Mom's Love for coming to shop for her students. I will miss seeing her Beautiful Smiling Face. I will miss the hugs of encouragement. I know here family, friends and co-workers will miss her more. But, when I think of the difference she made in a child's life from being their teacher, I can't be too sad because her work and purpose was completed. Rest on Mrs. Diane for you are in your Father's Home. Well done Good and Faithful Servant.

Mrs. Geotschius was my daughter Gionna's Kindergarten teacher this year and had taught my 3rd-grade daughter Omaira when she was in Kindergarten. For a little time, they were able to spend together, she has been absolutely amazing to my family. the very first time we met, we had spoken on the phone for a little over an hour, just talking about life and its experiences in this new normal. I was completely headstrong on my daughter being homeschooled, but by her love over the computer and her words to reassure me she will be in good hands, I decided to let Gionna be blessed with her presence and her gift of teaching from 8 am til 325 pm. Gionna missed her everyday she was gone and has had a hard time taking her passing. But just as her father has told her and what I am sure she would have told Gionna, had they got to say goodbye, that the children in heaven needed her the most, to read and to teach them too. from the Franklin Family and my daughter Gionna, rest in paradise, we will miss your kind spirit. Watch over my girls and fill their hearts with love and understanding on why you had to go. We all will miss you dearly. ** This is a picture I had made for my daughter, unfortunately, she didn't get to spend too much time face to face with Mrs. Geotschius to take her Kindergarten Graduation picture with her, so she keeps this close to her heart. It includes a note I found in her folder she last wrote to Gionna when she last saw her.**

Sending many hugs, prayers and condolences to her family and friends. We had the pleasure of having Mrs. Goetschius as my little girl's kindergarten teacher in the 2016-2017 school year. She was truly a kind, fun and loving teacher. She adored her daughters and her grandchildren as she spoke of them in her class all the time. She will be truly missed. We now have an angel in heaven watching over all of us. Her light will never fade and her infectious smile will never be forgotten. Rest in Paradise.:skin-tone-2:

Diane and I are first cousins. Her Mother is my Dad's sister. We are only 4 months apart in age and have always been called 'twin cousins' because we look so much alike. My last time to see Diane was at a 'cousins lunch'. Diane wanted me to sit with her and Jack so we 'twins' could visit. I am so thankful for all the beautiful memories. I am proud of my cousin for her strong faith in Christ, her undying love for her husband, her devotion to her family and her dedication to teaching. I am still trying to imagine our family without her bright spark of life. I love you, Diane. I will miss you until we meet again in the Lord.

I had the great pleasure of having Ms.Goetschius as a Kindergarten teacher back at Fletcher Elementary in 2005. She was an amazing teacher and I am so thankful I had her. Ms.Goetschius pushed me as a student by giving me separate assignments from the class and helped me get out of my comfort zone as someone who was shy. I am so thankful to have been a student under her leadership, as she promoted such a fun and heartwarming learning environment. May she rest in heavenly peace.
Sandra Sifuentes December 5, 2020
Mrs. Goetschius, one of the sweetest teachers ever at Fletcher Elementary, she had taught 3 generations in my family including me. She would always greet her students with a smile and ask how they are. She will be missed greatly, thank you Mrs. Goetschius for teaching generations upon generations of students and make a great impact on those you have taught. May she rest in peace, many condolences sent to her family.

I’m so heartbroken her life was cut short, and angry that it was due to a novel virus concocted in a China lab. It sickens me to my soul. Diane was a sweet soul that I have known since high school. Prayers for those remaining she loved, that will now struggle to go on without her. Kimberly Allen Wolfford

So many memories of being across the street neighbors as we were both starting our young families. Katrina & my Kayla were only 3 weeks a part in age, then came Keila and Karley & Kallie. Sometimes I was the extra set of hands she needed in the moment. Our kids played together, carpooled to school together, went to AWANAS together and so much more. Even if the girls were to young to remember those times, I do. She was always so sweet and patient with the kids, and creative when it came to keeping little hands busy to keep them out of trouble! Everyone that had the privilege of having Diane as a part of their life, is a better person because of it. Just a week ago, I was putting an ornament on my tree that she made over 30 years ago. My memories of Diane will always be with me. My heart is hurting for Jack, Katrina, Keila, Karley & Kalley, but I know how blessed you all are to be able to have called Diane, your wife and mom. Prayers will continue for you all... Richard & Brenda Conway Kayla Conway-Herring Amber Conway Ray

Diane was so kind to me and my family when our children were young. If I was working (sub para) she would take my children to and from school. After I was hired full time it was an everyday thing for us. We compared notes on our pregnancies when we were both pregnant with my Matthew and her Karley and Kalley. Diane will be missed by so many people. Family, friends, coworkers, students, etc. Rest In Peace my dear friend knowing that God will take care of us all. Love from the Thibodeaux family

One of my favorite memories was talking thru the window that faced our house. There were many deep secret conversations that took place through that window screen. I always enjoyed hearing the stories of what kind of trouble Diane had gotten herself into this time. It was tuff being the middle child I guess but she fought it head on and challenged every moment - always with a smile on her face. I am glad to have my memories of growing up with her that will live always in my heart. RIP Diane.
