D.L. "Sam" Girouard

D.L. "Sam" Girouard, 89, of Orange, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at The Meadows Nursing Home in Orange.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Tom Phelan of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm, Monday, at the funeral home.

Born in Loreauville, Louisiana, on October 16, 1923, Sam was the son of Leo Girouard and Mona Mallet Girouard. He served as a Boatswain Mate in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946; where he traveled all over Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean Sea during that time. Sam then worked as a Millwright for the local union.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Girouard; and granddaughter, Kelly Monceaux. He is survived by his son, Keith Girouard; daughter; Dianna Girouard Korte and her husband, Bruce; grandchildren, Roxanna Thomas, Brian Prouse, and Chad Prouse; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; 4300 Meeks Dr. Orange, Texas 77632; 409 883-8232.

So sorry to hear about Sam. I just lost my daddy, John Pickard April 5th and I lost mother, Ruby Pickard, Oct. 30 last. Both mother and daddy really liked Sam.
