Donald Earl "Donnie" Ashworth

1944 ∼ 2025

Donald Earl "Donnie" Ashworth, 80, of Lumberton, passed away on June 15, 2025.

Donald Earl "Donnie" Ashworth, a beloved figure in the Beaumont community, passed away on June 15, 2025, in Lumberton, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on December 22, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, Donnie devoted his life to both his family and his passion for service.

A proud veteran, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam War before moving into the reserves, reflecting his commitment to the country and its values. He built a dedicated career as an operator at Huntsman, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues and peers over the years.

Donnie's larger-than-life personality made him a cherished friend and confidant. He was an enthusiastic member of the American Legion, VFW, and a lifetime member of Harley H.O.G. His love of motorcycles was evident, as he owned two classic Harleys and two classic Triumphs. Not only did he enjoy riding, but he was also an avid collector of guns and knives—hobbies that complemented his adventurous spirit. He was known for his distinctive style, often donning anything from a sombrero to a top hat, which perfectly represented his playful nature. He had a remarkable ability to make others laugh, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Ashworth; his son, Brandon Ashworth, and his wife Erin; stepson James Shelton; stepdaughter Tammy Shelton; his six grandchildren: Ethan, Allie, Jake, Brandi, Brittni, and Layne; and his brother, Leroy Aaron (Lee) Ashworth, and wife Sabrina. Additionally, he took great joy in his role as a great-grandfather to Karlee, Braylee, Haylee, Hazlee, Harper, and Olivia. His legacy will live on through them and the many lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Winnie Marie Ashworth, and his siblings Chester, Archie, and Rose.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for June 22, 2025, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
