Dr. Clyde Donald Smith

Dr. Clyde Donald Smith, 75, of Orange, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Harbor Hospital in Orange.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday, 3:00 p.m. at San Augustine City Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, at the funeral home.

Dr. Smith was born in San Augustine County, Texas on November, 10, 1932 to Clyde John Smith and Avis McDonald. He was a proud member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and Winfree Baptist Church. Dr. Smith was a dedicated coach and educator for many years. He was very active and a life member in many organizations in the Education Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde J. Smith and sister, Lila Marie.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Jean Campbell Smith of Orange; daughters, Donna Joyce Manuel and husband Keith of Clear Lake, Mona Kathy Charnetski and husband Stan of Humble; stepchildren, Larry & Marlene Campbell of Orange, and Donnarie Campbell of Orange.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Jeremy Winter, Nicole Oswald, Taylor Charnetski, Sean Manuel, Courtney Manuel, Chad Campbell, Leslie Ruff, Kayla Manuel, Hunter Ruff, Danielle Ruff, Avy Campbell; and sister, Rosa Hutchison of Austin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, Chad Campbell, Richard Ruff, Stan Charnetski, Jeremy Winter and Keith Manuel.

Donna, Kathy, and Mrs. Smith. I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Smith. I have such fond memories of him when Donna and Kathy and I were teenagers at La Porte Jr. and Sr. High School.
