Dr. Darrell Perkins, 84, of Orange, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, TX.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on May 31, 1927, Darrell was the son of Roy and Belle Burch Perkins. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He received his Doctorate degree at the University of Texas Dental Branch. He worked as an orthodontist and practiced dentistry for over 50 years. Darrell was a member of the United Methodist Church in Orange. He was also a Fellow of the Rotary Club and lifelong member of and on the Board of Directors for Ducks Unlimited. He had a lifelong love of fishing, hunting, and the outdoors, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Brucie Perkins, and brothers, Edward Perkins and Jerry Perkins of Port Arthur TX.

Darrell is survived by his sons, Dr. Chris Perkins of Kingwood TX, and Darrell W. Perkins of Orange TX; step son, Andy Meshwert of Bridge City TX; daughter, Shelly Green of Groves TX; sister, Norma Heirtzler of Buna TX; grandchildren, Ashley Bellow of Warren TX, Amy Calaway of Beaumont TX, Christie Perkins of Dallas TX, Cody Perkins of San Marcos TX, Tiffany Hamilton of Orange TX, Leslie Perkins of Beaumont TX, Darrell C. Perkins of Orange TX, and Jason Meshwert of Bridge City TX; and great grandchildren, Lane DeGlandon of Warren TX, Drake Calaway of Beaumont TX, Chesleigh Hamilton of Orange TX, and Claylee Hamilton of Orange TX.
