Earl Joseph Verrett

Earl Joseph Verrett, 82, of Orange, died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at his residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orange with Reverend Joseph P. Daleo officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Earl was born on September 2, 1926, in Orange, Texas. He was the son of Euclid P. Verrett and Anita L. Charpentier Verrett. Earl was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion and former member of the Parish Council and Red Cross.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, David Charles Verrett; son, Thomas Mark Verrett; daughter-in-law, Annette M. Thibodeaux Verrett; son-in-law, Walter L. Potter; brothers, Charles Verrett and Lloyd Verrett; and sisters, Anna Verrett, Eunice Pitre, Grace Verrett and Florence Virva.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marion "June" Sandquist Verrett of Orange; children, Jimmy Verrett and his wife Daina of Orange, Linda Vercher and her husband Paul Jr. of West Orange, Mary Potter of Arlington, Texas, Leo Verrett and his wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, Texas and Carol Cunningham and her husband Sam of Allen, Texas.

He is also survived by his nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and brother, John Verrett of Buna.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jimmy Verrett, Leo Verrett, Paul Vercher, Jr., Sam Cunningham, Chris Verrett, Jason Vercher, Robert Vercher and Brian McCorvy. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Verrett, Frank Virva, Roy Simar, Dan Dumas, Frank Virva, Jr., Travis Verrett, Jared Verrett and Logan Verrett.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School, 2600 Bob Hall Road, Orange, TX 77630-2418 409 883-8913.

I have very fond memories of Earl Verett when Mary and I were in college. The Verrett family influenced by decision to become Catholic by way of their family life. I believe he would like that.
