Edgar Lavant Proctor

Edgar Lavant Proctor, 89, of Bevil Oaks passed away January 6, 2011 at his home. He was born June 1, 1921 in Stilson, Georgia to Ezekiel Lavant and Leona McElveen Proctor. A veteran of WWII, Edgar served in Belgium, Germany and France during the European Theater. He was an employee of South Western Bell Telephone for 38 years before retiring.

Edgar was involved in many clubs and organizations during his life including coaching little league, The Lions Club where he served as president, and his church, First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks where he served as a deacon. Among his more prized abilities was the growing of a luscious vegetable garden.

He was preceded in death by his brother Raymon J. Proctor. Surviving him are his wife, Dorothy; sons, Ronald Eugene Proctor and wife, Anita of Humble, TX, Terry Lynn Proctor of Deer Park, TX; grandchildren Celeste M. Proctor of Houston, TX, Kelly E. Proctor of Dallas, TX, Ashley P. Vandagriff of Deer Park, TX, Ronald E. Proctor, JR and wife Melissa of Conroe, TX; great-grandchildren Trevor A Vandagriff , Madeline R. Proctor and sister, Margaret Ann Newman of South Carolina.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Monday, January 10 at 1. p.m. at First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
