Edna Mae Goldfine Bennett

Edna Mae "Eddie" Bennett passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011. She was the daughter of Max A.and Belle Goldfine. She was a native of Orange, Texas and lived her entire life there.

She was a graduate of Orange High School and loved being a member of the Bengal Guards. She attended the University of Texas, and returned to Orange, where she met and married her husband of 34 years, Dr. David Bennett, M.D. She was a charter member of the Service League of Orange and participated in the Leaf and Petal Garden Club for many years, and was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Frank Bennett of Monroe, La., Debbie and Philip Drago, Jr. of Port Neches, Tx, Shelley and Trent Howell, of Water Valley, Ms. and Ms. Barbara Bennett of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Sugarman of Cleveland, Ohio. Survivors also include her grandchildren, Andrea and Garrett Mulkey of Arlington, Texas, Alana Drago of Dallas, Tx, and Rebecca Drago of Houston, Texas, by her great grandson, Jackson Mulkey and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Kol Israel Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Emanuel in Beaumont, Tx, The Orange Public Library large print children's collection, the American Cancer Society, The Service League of Orange, or the charity of your choice.

I never had the pleasure of meeting your Mother in person; however, I had many nice phone conversations with her when she would call the Temple Office. She was always such a pleasure to visit with.
