Edward "Ed" Samuel Stuart Jr.

1931 ∼ 2023

“I’ll give you a daisy a day my dear”

Edward “Ed” Samuel Stuart Jr. 92 of Cheek, Texas passed away August 31, 2023 with his wife JoAnn of almost 50 years by his side.

In the 50’s, just after graduating from Beaumont High School, he attended Lamar University where he took auto mechanic courses. He started renting a building for $30.00 a month where he worked on a dirt floor building and fixing transmissions. Over the years he was able to open 3 locations for Ed’s Automatic Transmission Shop where he worked everyday until his death.

He was one to appreciate his toys, one being his 50 foot yacht ‘miss Effie’ and his smaller fishing boat ‘The Butterfly’. Ed was an avid golfer, scuba diver, motorcycle racer and race car driver. He spent many of his days at the race track and even owned multiple race cars. More than anything Ed enjoyed life and family.

Ed’s memorial will be held over the Christmas holidays, which he thoroughly enjoyed!

Preceding him in death were his parents Ed Sr And Ruth Stuart, daughter Effie Ruth Stuart Radke, sons Ed Stuart III and James Monroe Stuart, sisters Catherine Stuart and Susie Stuart Powers.

Ed is survived by his wife and best friend JoAnn Stuart, daughter Rene Scott and her husband Ed Scott, sons Leroy Stuart and Joe Haggard and wife Kelli Haggard, grandchildren Jessica and Josh Grammer, Shane and Treena Stuart, Meagan and Josh Murphy, Caleb and Alli Gearinger, Isabel Haggard, Christian and Brooke Stuart, Jordan Haggard and great grandchildren Jacob and Jenna Grammer, Kail, Jaxon and Averie N. I feel very fortunate to have called Ed Stuart a friend. Behind his sometimes stoic exterior was a very kind man with a fabulous sense of humor. He could deliver a clever one liner with a deadpan tone of voice that would have me giggling like a fool. He and JoAnn were more than great neighbors. They were friends and stand in grandparents to my kids. I love them both. All of my love and deepest condolences to the whole family.
