Edwina Holland Winter

Edwina Holland Winter, 93, of Beaumont, died on January 19, 2011. Edwina was born in Orange, Texas on September 11, 1917, to Novaline Anna Bettis Holland and Edgar A. Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dawson Winter, Jr. who expired in January 2001 and her brother George E. Holland, who expired in March 2009. Edwina is survived by her sons, John D. Winter III and his wife, Susan, of Easton, Conn. and Edgar Holland Winter and his wife, Monique, of Beverly Hills, California.

She was a member of Calder Baptist Church, the National Society of Colonial Dames, The Magnolia Garden Club, The Garden Club of America, the Tyrrell Historical Library Association and The Junior League of Beaumont. Edwina was noted for her flower arranging and judging and was the recipient of numerous awards. She was always willing to share her vast knowledge of plants and flowers with others.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family appreciates your thoughts and well wishes.

As a teenager growing up in Beaumont I knew Mrs. Winter and had the utmost respect for her and Mr. Winter. I am saddened by the passing of Edwina, she was a very gracious and kind lady. I was one of those many musicians that Robert Reeder wrote about. she allowed us to learn and grow as human beings and for that I am eternally grateful.
