Eleanor Anderson Mancil

Eleanor Anderson Mancil, 89, of Orange passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Mr. Darrell Powell, minister of West Orange Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home in Orange.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 10, 1923, Eleanor was the daughter of Robert Martin Anderson and Ella McCarthy Anderson. She was a Medical Technician in the U.S. Army. She was a devoted mother who loved a good card game with her children and lots of laughter at all family gatherings. Her second great love was her church family, whose faithful visits she enjoyed during her last weeks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Mancil; daughter, Susan Rhoads; son, Robert Mancil; four brothers and five sisters.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Sandra Withrow and husband, Billy of Little Cypress; son, Bencie Mancil and wife, Inez of Hemphill; daughter, Donna Bell and husband, Charles of Kirbyville; son, James Mancil of Orange; and son-in-law, Bartley Rhoads of Buna. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jason Bell, Matt Bell, Andrew Rhoads, Damon Withrow, Allen Mancil and Alanna Barber.

Eleanor's family greatly appreciates the love and care she received from Dr. Castellanos, Dr. Marian Chin Han and the Southeast Texas Hospice.

Eleanor was truly an Angel from Heaven. She nursed Jimmy back to health after he was so badly wounded in the Army - they fell in love, married and settled in Orange.
