Elizabeth died peacefully in her home on September 30, 2009, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Alfred David Nelson; her children, Alfred Ray Nelson of Nederland, Bonnie Lynn Burroughs of Pt. Neches, Sharon Elaine Nelson of Arlington, Virginia, and David Alan Nelson of Beaumont and his wife, Donna Sherman Nelson the sole surviving spouse; grandchildren, Brian David Nelson, Christopher Alan Nelson, Shane Lee Burroughs, and Bethany Lynn Burroughs; great-grandchildren Taylor David Nelson, Zachary Brian Nelson, and Abigail Hart Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
At Elizabeth's request, the family held a private memorial service in her home. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Compassionate Care Hospice of Beaumont, for the exceptional care they provided during the last seven months for Elizabeth and the family.
