Elizabeth Tolliver Wright

1946 ∼ 2009

Elizabeth Tolliver Wright

Elizabeth Tolliver Wright left her earthly body to be greeted by her Lord and Savior on June 24, 2009. Liz was born on April 26, 1946, to B.H. and Ruby C. Tolliver, in Bainbridge, Maryland. She was raised in Conroe, Texas and graduated from Conroe High School in 1964. After graduating, she attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of the Texas Tech band and Tau Beta Sigma sorority. Liz transferred to the University of Houston School of Pharmacy to complete her degree. After receiving her degree, she began her career as a pharmacist at M.D. Anderson. While in Houston, Liz was also very active in the choir and the singles ministry of First Baptist Church.

After marrying in 1974, she and her husband moved to Beaumont where she later received her Master's degree in counseling at Lamar University. Liz was a member of First Baptist Church of Beaumont for many years. She, more recently, has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She has worked in children's ministry for the past 30 years teaching both Sunday School and Children's Choir. She was also a member of the adult choir. While a member at Calvary, Liz was privileged to go on two mission trips to Africa and one to Russia, where she was able to use her skills to teach children and dispense medication as a pharmacist. She found her greatest joy in her work for the Lord and in her children.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Krueger and husband Jason, of Houston, Texas and her son, Dr. Danny Wright, of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Dotty Brown and husband Larry, of Conroe, Texas and brother Steve Tolliver, of Boerne, Texas. She leaves behind her "adopted" grandsons, Emory and Ethan Cothen.

Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Nathan Cothen on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont. Final interment will be at Conroe Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, June 26, 2009, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Chris Harless, Emory Cothen, Ethan Cothen, Will Tolliver, Andy Brown, and Allen Temple.

The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Booser, and the staff at M.D. Anderson for the special care she received over the past nineteen years. We would also like to thank her many friends for their love and support, with a special "thank you" to Mae Paul, Regina Darkin, and Patricia Maldanado.

Liz was a true example of God's love and grace. She was more concerned with others well-being than herself. We will miss her laughter until we see her again. With regrets, we were unable to attend her service because of a previous commitment. Know tha##imported-begin##Jimmy & Sheilah Lackey##imported-end##

Danny and Shannon, We were so very sorry to learn about your mother's death. We know she fought a very long, courageous battle with her illness. She was a person of great faith and always minimized her own problems and spoke of you more than herself. ##imported-begin##Don and Joan Carlin##imported-end##
