Emil D. "Pete" Wade

1925 ∼ 2017

Emil D. "Pete” Wade, 91, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017. Pete was born April 6, 1925 in Texas City where he lived until graduating high school in 1941. He entered the Air Force, attended Navigation school and served in the Pacific Theater of WWII as a navigator aboard a B29. He and his crew flew over Japan but never got to see it except from the air.

In June 1951, upon graduating from the University of Houston, Pete married the love of his life, Ruth Ebert. Pete worked as a design engineer for three years and then spent 31 years as a sales engineer and manager in industrial automation and loved every minute though he never got rich!

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Wade, and his two brothers, Durwood "Dee" and Gilbert Wade Jr.

Pete is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth, and his three daughters: Mary Chachere and husband Jerry, Julie Stokes and husband Randy, and Sally Switzer and husband David. He enjoyed his six Grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

God gave Pete a long and wonderful life.

A memorial service for Pete will be held Saturday, January 28, at 2:30pm at the First United Methodist Church at 701 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas, 77701.

There are no words to express the sadness I feel now for your loss.  When the pain of death becomes overwhelming, we can turn to God in prayer.  The Bible tells us to "throw all of your anxieties on him, because he cares for you," (1 Peter 5:7).  Take comfort in knowing that he loves you and that "one day he will wipe tears from our eyes, and that death will be no more,"(Isaiah 25:8). I hope this scripture gives you peace and endurance during this time of bereavement.

Ruth, Mary, Julie and Sally-- It is with utmost sadness that I write this. Having known Pete most of my 62+ years he played a big part in mine and my parents' lives. Besides the good memories from our formative years on Bettes Lane, we enjoyed our visits to Baton Rouge before fate brought you back to Beaumont. But above all, I will always remember Pete for the enormous help he (and you, Ruth) were to my mom. She wasn't always at her best while living alone--you were the first ones she'd call, and he would always come running to help her. I honestly don't think she would have lived as long as she did without you. And when she passed away you were the ones there with me. God bless Pete--may he rest in peace. I will think about him every day until I pass! Steve
