Emil L. Weaver

Emil L. Weaver, 87, passed away on January 31, 2017, at Calder Woods Senior Living.

Emil, son of Elsie Elner and Elnora Dell Harmon Weaver, was born on April 2, 1929, in the front bedroom of their home in Hankamer, Texas. Emil moved to Beaumont when he was 14 and it wasn’t long before he met the love of his life, Betty Alexander, at the Magnolia Pool. The Monday after he graduated high school, he continued working full time at First National Bank. Shortly thereafter at the age of 19, Emil and Betty got married and then he joined the Naval Reserves.

Emil and Betty went on to have 3 children and travel to many places. After more than 50 years of service, Emil retired from banking where he had worked his way up to Senior Vice President at First City Bank in downtown Beaumont. During his time in banking, he also participated in several organizations, most notably, YMBL and AIB (American Institute of Banking). Towards the end of his banking career, Emil went on to work part time for Claybar Funeral Home until 2012.

When Emil wasn’t working you could find him working in his yard, enjoying the deer lease, or taking road trips on his motorcycle.

He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Betty; his parents and his two brothers, Will A. and Leo.

Emil is survived by his 3 children, Dr. Richard Weaver and wife, Sherry, Sandra Smith and husband, Howard, all of Beaumont, and Brenda Carter and husband, James of Friendswood, Texas; six grandchildren, Christopher Forster and wife, Lorena, Emily Forster, Jamie Carter, Chase Anderson, Mandy Bielamowicz and husband, Brian, and Kristin Smith; and his four great-grandchildren, Riley Forster, Kaci Hathaway, and Addison and Logan Bielamowicz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church at 3810 N. Major, Beaumont, TX 77713 or the Alzheimer’s Association 700 North St. Beaumont, Texas 77701.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2017, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
