Emma Joyce Pevey, 81, passed peacefully

on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 6:00 pm, at Claybar Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Gilliam of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 3:00 pm, at Zavalla Cemetery in Zavalla, TX. Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm, Saturday, at the funeral home, and resume after the service.

Mrs. Pevey was born September 26, 1927 in Zavalla, TX to Denzil and Lessie Poland Stuart. She retired from Firestone as an office assistant and was a member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church. She loved to dance, play dominoes and cards, and was an excellent seamstress and cook. She also loved working in the garden and travelling. Emma Joyce cherished her time with family and friends, and especially sharing precious moments and laughter with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pevey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Percy Ray Pevey, and her brother Duel Ray Stuart.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip A. Webb, Sr.; daughter, Verniece Pevey Browning and husband, Elgin; son, Dwain Pevey and wife, Betsy, brother, James Edward Stuart and wife, Bobbie; stepsons, Phillip A. Webb, Jr. and wife, Karen and Kevin Webb; stepdaughter, Teena Reynolds and husband, Keven; grandchildren, Stefanie Goldsmith, Michael Pevey and wife, Lucretia, Amanda Rider and husband, Robbie, LaTricia Pevey Powell and husband, Ryan, Casey Pevey Pope and husband, Adam; step grandchildren, Dean Webb, Dylan and Ryan Reynolds; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Goldsmith, Kinlee Rider, Ryan, Layne, and Slayden Pevey, Keileigh Journeay, Samantha Pevey, Joshua Powell, and Ethan Pope.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Sallier, Randy and Jimmy Stuart, Bob Pevey, and Manuel DeLeon.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Joyce, she was a great lady, always good to me and Butch. Sorry I cannot be there for the funeral, but you are in my thoughts and prayers.
