It was with great sadness to hear of the passing of Gene Koch. We first met him and his family in 1990 when I was called to pastor the congregation in Beaumont, TX where he served as an elder. He is well remembered as a humble man of God who loved and served our church faithfully. He was always a source of strength and courage. Our prayers go with his family. Please know you have our affectionate sympathy and many wonderful memories. Don & Alix Engle

My greatest memory I shall carry of Mr. Koch is... that he was genuinely happy to see you... you saw it in his eyes.. you heard it in his voice when he said hello... and... you knew that you were in the presence of a true friend... he is truly a rare voice of love in the wilderness of this world. A story he once told my wife and I was when I told him... back in the 1980s... that my family and I were moving to Wisconsin... his reply was... “It gets so cold up there... I usta parked my car in the barn with the cows at night... to keep it warn... so it would start in the morning.” Yes... he will be greatly missed. My wife and I have been so blessed in knowing him... and... being able to share some precious moments with him. We will meet again... O then... what joy there shall be.

My greatest memory is of my uncle's very kind letter that he sent to me in response to a card I sent him after my aunt passed away. It was thoughtful and kind. So while I did not know my uncle well, due to distance, I knew my mom and this is not surprising. I remember well my mom's excitement when she knew her brother had a living relationship with Jesus Christ and what that meant for him. I know they are sharing now...... My observations from afar have been that people mattered most to him and he spent his life investing in them. As all of his family remembers and grieves his loss, I hope they will find that quiet joy knowing that he is now in a wonderful place. A place where there is always enough room (mansions), a place where there are enough tables for everyone to eat, a place filled with light, joy, comfort and all of those who have gone on before. Blessings on you all, Laura Baier (Janice's daughter)
