Eunice Ernst

Eunice "Polly" Gibson Ernst, 77, of Orange, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Interment will be at Fountain Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Polly was born February 16, 1931, in Orange to William O. and Martha Gillis Gibson.

Polly married William A. Ernst in June of 1952, in Great Lakes, IL.

She served in the US Navy during 1951-1952 as a Dental Technician.

She was active in the West Orange PTA, served as its president for several years and drove a school bus for W.O.S.D. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William A. Ernst of Orange, daughters, Stephanie Gifford and husband David of Bedford, VA and Jacqueline Shaffer and husband Ray of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Aliya Gifford and Hameed Gifford of Bedford, VA, Amanda Shaffer of Montgomery and Kristina Dunham of DeQuincy, LA; sister, Gail Crenshaw of Starks, LA and brother, Dale Gibson of Sour Lake, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Griffith, K.B. Warren, Hank Crenshaw, Arnold West, Kyle Loftin and Bob Kittner. Honorary pallbearers will be Merlin Broussard, Gary McCann and Buford Rector.

Uncle Bill and Jackie, I am so sorry for your loss. My memories begin with visits to your home in the summer, playing with the weiner dogs and being amazed by your big goldfish.
