Florence Thompson

We give thanks for the life and love of Florence Bernadette Thibodeaux Thompson. June 6, 1926- June 19, 2010. Wife, mother, daughter and sister.

Florence was preceded in death by her daughter, Clarisse and is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Benjamin Crable Thompson; 5 children, Phillip Thompson and wife, Betty, Greg Thompson and wife, Susie, Suzy Thompson, Bruce Thompson and wife, Crystal and Mark Thompson; and 7 grandchildren, James, William, Kayleigh, Stephanie, Holly, Sarah and Zach Thompson.

She is also survived by her sister, Irona Mazzola of Orange; brother, Ray Thibodeaux of Nederland; and many nieces and nephews.

Florence was born to Clement and Eliza Thibodeaux of Church Point, Louisiana. In 1949, she graduated from Hotel Dieu Nursing School in Beaumont, Texas. Her creative and loving spirit manifested itself in her warm home, family, artwork, cooking and sense of humor. She worked as a registered nurse at Vinton Memorial, Frances Lutcher Hospital, Levingston Shipbuilding Company, Southeast Texas Hospice, as well as a private duty nurse.

Florence's creativity, loving spirit and kindness are her legacy and are present in each of us.

She loved us well and in turn was well loved. We are grateful and are glad she was ours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Thomas Phelan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 6:00 p.m., Sunday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
