Franklin Clarence Smith

Franklin Clarence Smith, 82, of Hull, passed away on January 14, 2022, in Beaumont.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 21, 1939, he was the son of Franklin Smith and Ruth (Palmer) Smith. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and worked for the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 31 for numerous years. Franklin loved hunting – often taking trips out to his lease in Woodville. He was an avid saltwater and freshwater fisherman. Franklin had many hobbies including gunsmithing, but he was most well-known for his impeccable woodworking and crafting gun stocks. In addition to his many hobbies, Franklin was a licensed Ham Radio Operator. He was a loving husband and a doting father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who loved him during his journey through life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Ruth Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Evelyn Smith; children, Charles Smith and wife Brenda of Galveston and Chelle Smith Keating and husband Jim of Seabrook; grandchildren, Courtney Smith and Jonathan Smith; great-grandchildren, Jayden Garcia and Josiah Soto; sisters, Mabel Putz, Pauline Krechel and Betty West; and Goddaughter, Jean Marie.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Kelley-Watkins in Beaumont.
