Freda Lucille Cormier, 80, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2025. 

 Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at New Horizon Church in Beaumont, Texas 880 W Cardinal Dr, Beaumont, TX 77705. Officiating will be Reverend Roderick Bluitt. A private burial will follow at Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at New Horizon Church in Beaumont, Texas.

 Born on February 8, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, she was the daughter of Leon and Dorothy Laurentz. Freda was a devoted member of the community, deeply involved at New Horizon Church, where she cherished the friendships, she made and the time spent with fellow congregants. Her warmth and generosity of spirit were felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A passionate reader who found joy in puzzles, and spending time at the casino she often shared her love for these activities with family and friends, fostering connections and sparking laughter.

Throughout her life, Freda had a special affinity for animals, treating them with the kindness and care that defined her character. Her love for her family and friends was evident in everything she did, as she consistently made those around her feel valued and important.

 She is preceded in death by her husband, Ivy Cormier; her parents, Leon and Dorothy Laurentz; her son, John Eric; her grandson, Reagan Adaway; her sister, Elaine Coffee; her brother, Gaylord Laurentz and his wife Sandy.

 She is survived by her son, Kevin Adaway; her grandchildren, Shannon Adaway, Joseph Adaway and Joshua Adaway; her four great grandchildren; her sister, Jimmie Sullivan; her best friend, Judy Ayres; and other loving family and friends.

 Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Adaway, Lynn Sullivan, Steve Sullivan, Stephen Ayers, Allen Ayers, and Jerry Ayers.
