Funeral services for George C. Brooks, Jr. 86, of Beaumont will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.

Mr. Brooks was born Nov. 18, 1927 in Beaumont, Texas and passed away June 2, 2014 at his residence. He retired as a maintenance supervisor with Ameripol-Synpol (formerly BF Goodrich) and as a security captain with Pinkerton Securities. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a member of North End Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife of 66 years, Verna Brooks; son, George Brooks III and wife, Kitty; daughters Jennifer DeShazo of Beaumont and Debbie Chamberlain and husband, Will, of Beaumont; sister, Jennie Mary Peddy and husband, Bill, of Austin; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
